New Chapter

November 26, 2008 8:08 pm

And now a new chapter begins.  Well, sort of, at least a prologue to a new book.  Or something like that.  A lot of change.

Details to follow.

Life

This is how I feel lately.  I hate when I let too much time lapse between posts and updates.  Life has been crazy.  No house, no plan, no rest!  I have been obsessed with finding a rental in Walnut Creek, and have had no luck.  Bless Amy and Alph who have offered their house until we find a place to live.  We just may take them up on it so we can get the kids in school, since they will be on track break after Thanksgiving.  Otherwise they would miss three weeks of school, and that really seems like a lot.  I don’t want them to have to play catch-up.  We will see what happens.

Other than house stuff, we have been keeping pretty busy as usual.  Life is good and hard and happy and sad and frustrating and tiring and rewarding and sometimes nuts.  The kids are amazing and hard and frustrating and tiring and fun and cute as can be.  Brig and I have been trying to teach them obedience and sometimes it doesn’t go so well.  There has been a lot of talking back and hitting and fighting and yelling and time outs and tv taken away and Christmas presents threatened.  Then there are those moments when things go smoothly and family home evening is successful and the kids really seem to be paying attention and enjoying learning.  Hopefully they know how much they are loved.

Here is a little update on each child.  Emma is a busy little lady.  She is doing awesome in school, but complains about it everyday because it is sooooo boring!  She is becoming a good little writer and even had her Halloween story published in the Twitchel Times (school newspaper).  She is also still loving gymnastics and is getting ready to compete after the new year.  She just had her last soccer game of the season, so that will free up a little time.  She did well and has improved a lot, even though she missed half of the games due to our trips to CA looking for houses.  She is so smart and fun and still as stubborn and difficult as ever!

Cooper lost his front tooth and still looks pretty darn cute!  He is also doing great in school, but also complains that it is soooo boring!  He is getting quite good at tether ball though.  Apparently he can now beat everyone in his class.  He wants a glove for all his tether ball playing.  Do they make tether ball gloves?  His teacher recently asked me if I was aware that he doesn’t say his “r’s” or “s’s” the way he should.  I guess I’m aware, but I never worried about it because it really is cute.  He still has another year or so before it shouldn’t be so cute!

Cooper has also become quite the skateboarder.  We went to the skate park the other day, and after gaining a little confindence with all of the older kids that were there, he dove right in with them.  He has even been wanting me to get him some “skinny” jeans.  I don’t know if I’m there yet.

Meg is quite the character.  She has been the hardest one as of late.  She does exactly what you tell her not to do and doesn’t particularly care about consequences.  Thus, lots of time outs.  Hopefully it is just a phase.  Brig and I have a feeling that she is going to really be a handful when she is older.  We are going to have to watch this one.  On the other hand, she is the sweetest and most lovable little girl around.  She is smart, a little too smart perhaps.  She is reading and writing some.  She has fun at preschool and swimming lessons, where she is the youngest and smallest, but keeps right up.  She is also very much into her barbies, singing and dancing and playing with Maisy.

On to little Maisy Kaye.  She is the cutest 5 month old ever!  She is a lot of fun and happy and kissable and active and delicious.  She does keep me up at night still, which isn’t very “Wise baby” like.  Sometimes its to eat or sometimes she just needs her binki.  Either way, I’m up.  But I’ll keep her.  She has been eating some baby food for about a month now.  She is also moving around like crazy.  She is my earliest crawler yet.  She started with rolling over and over, then progressed to the push-up hold (which is pretty impressive), now on to the hands and knees and pushing herself forward.  It is pretty amazing how fast she can move around.  Got to keep on eye on this little lady.  She is also sitting up and just started saying, “mama.”  So cute.  She is still very much loved by all her siblings and we love her!

Different

As you can see, Maisy has different colored eyes.  Her left eye has a little brown in it.  You would think since I have brown eyes and Kristin has blue eyes, out of the 8 eyes our kids have more than just half an eye would be brown.  Makes you wonder.

Crunched

The Credit Crunch took it’s toll on us.  Looks like we won’t be getting the house. Oh well.  Time to start looking at rentals again.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

November 2, 2008 12:08 am

Hannah Montana, Karate Master and the Witch all had a fun, candy-filled Halloween.  Halloween isn’t just one day.  Oh no, its about 2 weeks long.  The kids started celebrating a couple of weeks ago while we were in CA.  They went to Sophie and Sam’s school fall festival and Uncle Talmage’s Halloween party.  Both were a success.  This week the kids all had parties at school, a neighborhood party, a friend party and of course the actual day of Halloween.  Too much in my book.  The kids and I had to pick and choose which events to go to.  I cut out the ward party (conflicted with other stuff) and the Twitchell Fall Festival (last year it was totally lame).  The kids were fine with that.  There was plenty of fun to be had.  Brig took them trick-or-treating with Bianca and Renard, while Maisy and I stayed home and passed out the candy.

After wearing these costumes for a couple of days, the kids decided to switch it up a bit on the night of the neighborhood party.  Emma concocted her own costume and called herself Uncle Earl.  Cooper wore our neighbors freaky shirt and mask (the maks lasted about 1 min.) and Meg decided to be Belle.  More fun and games and food were had by all!

Halloween is over for another year. Too bad so much candy remains.

4 Years Old

October 28, 2008 11:43 pm

Megee Moozer is 4 going on 16!  She knows and says things a four year old shouldn’t.  A little too smart for her own good.  But nevertheless, she is my big little 4 year old!  She enjoyed a family party with her request of mashed potatoes, gravy and the “brown stuff” (roast beef).  It’s what every four year old requests for dinner right?  She also opened some presents (HSM 3 soundtrack, Sharpe barbie and a microphone stand from Grandma and Grandpa Reeder) and ate ice cream cake.  I hope we made her day special enough for her.  Emma and Cooper pretended she was a princess and treated her like one.  It was pretty cute.  We sure love our Meg!  When she came into this world four years ago, I’ve never been so scared.  Heart defects, hip dysplasia.  Meg’s hip has healed miraculously and her heart is stable.  You would never know of these little problems.  Nothing slows this girl down.  She’s got a huge heart, is very lovable, stubborn, smart, funny, fun and outgoing.  Happy Birthday Megee Moo!  We love you.

Answer to Prayer

October 15, 2008 3:04 pm

We have found our house in California.  Kristin was getting worried as the days and weeks went by without finding a suitable home.  She was sure we were going to be stuck in a tiny house that needed severe remodeling.  We have been praying that we would find something and last week that prayer was answered.  (I guess someone is living right)  We are in contract to buy this home and we love it.  We went and saw it last weekend and fell in love.  We were there for 2.5 hours looking at it and when we left Emma asked why we had to leave so soon.  We will get to see it again soon.  We have inspections to do and all of that, but hopefully we can get things worked out to move in early December. We will add more pictures soon.

Trouble on our hands

October 1, 2008 2:38 pm

We most certainly have trouble on our hands. Meg is a very lively young lady and often acts much older than her nearly 4 year old actual age. Here is a picture of her from a trip to the gap last week. She is hugging her manequin boyfriend. This was the second one she was hugging because she “broke up with the other one.” what will the teen years be like with this one?

She found her feet…
